“For over 150 years Her Majesty’s Land Registry has underpinned our society and economy by registering ownership, interests, mortgages and other secured loans against land and property in England and Wales.
But our future won’t just be about doing what we’ve always done. Our ambition is to lead the world in how we do it, and that’s why we’re committed to becoming the world’s leading land registry for speed, simplicity and an open approach to data.
We’ve also set ourselves the goal of achieving comprehensive registration by 2030. This will result in a more definitive record of property ownership, which will make buying and selling houses simpler, faster and cheaper. It will also support economic and housing growth right across the country.
In our business strategy, we set out how we’ll transform over the next five years. We’ll become brilliant at the basics, and increase our focus on our customers’ needs.
Our Digital Street project is exploring how land registration might work in 2030. This ground-breaking research will put us at the forefront of land registration innovation, both at home and abroad.
By publishing our data we’ll maximise its use, benefiting wider society, and driving innovation in the digital economy.
Our most important asset, our colleagues, will be key to delivering this ambition. With their expertise alongside a robust financial plan, we’ll deliver better value for money, and be able to respond to fluctuations in the market, ensuring we remain strong as we move towards 2030.
