Speaker Patrick Wheeler, Global Product Marketing Manager, TrendMicro
How quickly our world has changed! We are now more connected than ever, with over 1/3 of the world’s population — about 2.3B people — on the Internet. And with a staggering 665M web sites competing for our attention, and Google indexing over 1 trillion URLs each day, we have more information at our fingertips than we could have imagined.
Not only are we using the Internet to access information, but we are also using it to connect with others…. to learn from others…. to share with others. Instantly.
As consumers, our willingness to adopt emerging technologies is unprecedented. Facebook now has over 1B users, and over ½ of them are using their mobile devices to access the site. Last year alone there were 427M smartphones sold — outpacing Windows-based PCs by a wide margin.
Our personal lives have become much more social, mobile and collaborative. And not surprisingly, our personal lifestyles are causing a “consumerization” of IT services at work — a spread of consumer-friendly technologies into the workplace.
